PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Billy Torpedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Santiago Naciamento (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Billy Torpedo has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Billy Torpedo seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Torpedo throws a leg kick that misses.
Torpedo throws a jab when Naciamento was well out of range.
Torpedo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Naciamento moves away.

Torpedo throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Naciamento tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Torpedo is in Naciamento's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Naciamento keeping moving, preventing Torpedo from controlling successfully.
Torpedo slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Billy Torpedo wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Torpedo misses with a low kick.

Torpedo misses with a looping left.
Torpedo throws a body punch but Naciamento moves out of range.
Torpedo misses with a leg kick
and Naciamento counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Torpedo thinking.
Torpedo will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Torpedo throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Naciamento avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Naciamento blocks the body kick.
Torpedo swings away with a body shot that misses
and Naciamento connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It looks like Billy Torpedo has been cut.
Torpedo swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Torpedo bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Torpedo tries to move to mount but Naciamento blocks the move with his legs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Naciamento regains half guard, as Torpedo was trying to land strikes.
Torpedo throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Naciamento to regain full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Torpedo won't allow Naciamento to sweep him here.

Torpedo looking to sit in guard and control but Naciamento gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Naciamento wants to control from the top but Torpedo keeps moving.
Naciamento is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
My spies in Evade MMA inform me that Naciamento has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Torpedo looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Naciamento puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Torpedo holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Torpedo slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Torpedo wants to sweep here but Naciamento controlling him for the moment.
Torpedo seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Torpedo has control of Naciamento's left arm, preventing Naciamento from doing any damage.
Torpedo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Naciamento's guard.
Torpedo passes easily into side control. Nice work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Torpedo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Naciamento napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Torpedo tries to score with some ground and pound. Naciamento controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Torpedo throws a strike aimed at the side of Naciamento's head but Naciamento avoids it well.
Naciamento takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Torpedo throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Naciamento is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Torpedo in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Naciamento looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Torpedo turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

A less than humble Billy Torpedo misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
