The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Almeida avoids the head kick by Fabinal.
A head kick misses from Fabinal.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Fabinal.
Fabinal tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Almeida manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Fabinal closes the distance and clinches up with Almeida, looking for a takedown. Fabinal pushes Almeida against the cage but Almeida circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Fabinal throws a leg kick but Almeida checks it.
Almeida circles away from the clinch attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Fabinal.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Codey Fabinal. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fabinal shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Almeida sprawls well. Almeida wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fabinal gets slowly back to his feet.

Fabinal tries to clinch there but Almeida circles away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fabinal is defended easily by Almeida.
Fabinal shoots in for a takedown but Almeida shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Fabinal sizes up Almeida with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Fabinal looks for the body kick but Almeida saw that one coming.

Fabinal throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Fabinal shoots and misses
and Almeida counters with a single leg into guard. Fabinal didn't expect that.
Almeida sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Fabinal's guard.
