The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Darius Henderson and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Surgov misses with a wild combination.
Briggs wants to clinch but Surgov slips to the side
and Surgov counters with a right hand to the body.
A punch combination from Surgov misses.
Nice takedown defense from Surgov. No joy for Briggs on that attempt.
Briggs shoots in looking for a takedown but Surgov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Briggs's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Briggs has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Briggs. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Briggs throws a head kick but Surgov moves out of range.
Briggs throws a series of punches but Surgov avoids them all with ease.

Surgov has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.
Surgov moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Surgov throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Briggs's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Surgov dives in looking to finish as Briggs flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Surgov's strikes! Surgov is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Briggs's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Briggs was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Andrei Surgov!
