Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Newton Ratliff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Spiders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Newton Ratliff! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Robert Spiders! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spiders moves into the clinch. Ratliff content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Spiders prevents a takedown attempt there.
Ratliff drags the fight down to the ground.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Spiders accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Spiders passes Ratliff's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Ratliff looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Ratliff misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Ratliff controlling the position well. Spiders seems to be looking for submissions.

Ratliff really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Ratliff manages to get to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ratliff is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ratliff is on top in guard.
Spiders wants to stand up but Ratliff is controlling him. Spiders trying to control the position.
Ratliff postures up in Spiders's guard and throws a big left but Spiders blocks it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ratliff lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Ratliff content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Ratliff controls from within his opponent's guard. Ratliff trying to stand up but can't free himself from Spiders's guard. Ratliff missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Spiders controls Ratliff momentarily but Ratliff frees himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spiders avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Ratliff throwing strikes from guard but Spiders blocks nicely. Ratliff postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Spiders is trying to keep Ratliff in close.
Ratliff in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Ratliff avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Ratliff engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Ratliff scoring with punches to the head and body. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ratliff chips away with some ground and pound. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ratliff working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Ratliff is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Newton Ratliff dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Spiders gets the takedown into side control. Ratliff sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Ratliff is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Ratliff trying to control but Spiders postures up.
Ratliff keeps control of the position for the meantime. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Spiders trying to control the action but Ratliff is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Newton Ratliff wasn't doing enough on the ground. Ratliff works over Spiders's head and body with a nice combination. Spiders instigates a clinch. Spiders tightens his grip and picks Ratliff up, before dumping him to the ground. Ratliff manages to land in guard. Ratliff throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Ratliff looking to hit a scissor sweep but Spiders is one step ahead there. Ratliff has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Spiders can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Ratliff looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Spiders puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ratliff tries to get to full guard but Spiders has control of the leg. Spiders seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ratliff does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Ratliff has his hands clasped together around Spiders's back. He's all about the action. Spiders prevents Ratliff from improving his position. This has been an exciting period of action! Spiders seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Ratliff has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ratliff tries to roll over but Spiders keeps him under control. Ratliff moves into full guard.
Spiders must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ratliff looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Newton Ratliff overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Spiders looking to pass the guard. Spiders trying to control but Ratliff is working from the bottom. Ratliff will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Spiders is breathing heavily.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Robert Spiders wasn't active enough on the ground. Ratliff gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Ratliff keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Spiders's efforts to push away. Spiders tries to stall but Ratliff uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ratliff's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Spiders drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Ratliff throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Ratliff is pulling down on Spiders's head to control his posture. Spiders trying to control but Ratliff is working from the bottom. Ratliff manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ratliff landing strikes from the mount and Spiders is in trouble! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Newton Ratliff will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Ratliff clinches up with Spiders and pushes him back against the cage. Ratliff breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Spiders bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Spiders tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Ratliff sneaks back into half guard. Ratliff moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Ratliff scores with a short punch from the bottom. Ratliff looking for a sweep. Not yet Ratliff, not yet. Spiders stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ratliff swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ratliff wants to sweep here but Spiders controlling him for the moment. Spiders takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ratliff looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Ratliff has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Robert Spiders wasn't active enough on the ground. Spiders moves into the clinch successfully.
Ratliff's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Ratliff. Ratliff scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Spiders to see if he's OK. Ratliff scores with a couple of short elbows. Ratliff working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Spiders tries to improve position but can't. Spiders takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Spiders tries to buck Ratliff off but Ratliff is having none of it. Ratliff scores with a couple of short elbows.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ratliff is working to tighten his grip on Spiders's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Spiders has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Ratliff is really squeezing tight and eventually Spiders passes out! Ratliff breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
