Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Juan Barrantes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Martin Stewart ! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Wagner Zegers and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barrantes fails with the takedown and Stewart counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Martin Stewart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Stewart is trying hard to land a takedown here. Barrantes sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Stewart changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Barrantes tries to avoid it but Stewart manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Barrantes to the ground. Barrantes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Stewart swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Barrantes uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Stewart .
Stewart throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Stewart 's coach down at LOD Gym Now with StandUP was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Stewart 's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Barrantes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Stewart but Stewart pushes him off and we're back to square one. Stewart misses with a jab, cross combination.
Barrantes gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Stewart counters with a nice double leg into guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Barrantes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stewart avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Stewart is posturing up here but Barrantes has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Stewart tries to roll out but it's too tight and Stewart has to tap! Slick submission there by Barrantes!

A very excited looking Juan Barrantes made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet.
