Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Georges Lameson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robert Owinashi! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Owinashi swinging wildly here.
No joy there for Owinashi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lameson takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
It looks like Georges Lameson has been cut. Lameson fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Owinashi displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Lameson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Owinashi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Owinashi buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Lameson darts in looking for a takedown but Owinashi gets double underhooks and turns Lameson into the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Georges Lameson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lameson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Owinashi prevents it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Owinashi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lameson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Owinashi counters with a two punch combo. Owinashi has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Lameson is landing a low percentage of strikes. Left hook, right uppercut from Owinashi. Lameson gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Lameson is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round. Owinashi misses with a two punch combination.
Lameson shoots in looking for a takedown. Owinashi tries to sprawl out of it but Lameson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Owinashi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Lameson with a lazy takedown attempt and Owinashi counters with a lovely straight right hand! Good standup being displayed there by Owinashi as he connects with a hook. Owinashi throws a left that rocks Lameson and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Owinashi dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Lameson regain composure!
Oh Lameson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Owinashi decides to stand back up. Lameson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Owinashi counters with a left and a right... And another left! Lameson is down! He's done! The ref dives in to save him and that's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Robert Owinashi!
