PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rick Cricket (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Unknown Fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cricket comes into the arena with Fxxk everything blaring out of the sound system. Unknown Fighter has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rick Cricket!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Unknown Fighter!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jonathan Paton and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cricket feints and then cracks Fighter's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Fighter down.
A shot to the body from Fighter misses
and Cricket counters with a nice low kick that buckles Fighter's knee momentarily.

Fighter shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cricket manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Fighter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cricket swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fighter trying to control the position from guard on top but Cricket is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fighter throwing strikes from guard but Cricket blocks nicely.

Fighter drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cricket looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cricket looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cricket!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fighter is looking for a sweep.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter can't do much from the bottom here.
Fighter is looking to regain half guard here but Cricket keeps moving and retains side control.
Cricket wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fighter keeps working.
Fighter can't do much from the bottom here.

Fighter tries to buck Cricket off but Cricket is having none of it.
Fighter sneaks back into half guard.
Fighter wants to control but Cricket is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fighter is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Cricket knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fighter on the ground.

Fighter regains full guard. Nicely done.
Fighter is adopting a defensive guard.

Fighter is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Fighter is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cricket defends well.

Fighter is trying to hold Cricket in close to prevent damage but Cricket has managed to pass into half guard.
Fighter tries to get to full guard but Cricket has control of the leg.
Fighter is still trying to improve position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fighter regains full guard. Nicely done.
Cricket has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Fighter controls Cricket momentarily but Cricket frees himself.
Fighter wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cricket comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Cricket fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Cricket tries to clinch up.
Cricket is looking to clinch but Fighter is avoiding it.
Cricket buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Cricket is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cricket scoring well with a low kick there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cricket lands a right hook to the body.
Cricket lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Fighter managing to block the knees to the body from Cricket.
Fighter is breathing heavily.
Fighter is pushing Cricket up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Cricket is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Fighter is defending well for now.
Cricket lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Fighter backwards.
Fighter takes a knee right on the jaw!


It looks like Unknown Fighter has been cut.
A head punch on the inside from Fighter fails to land.
Cricket misses with a knee to the head.
Cricket misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Fighter.

Fighter gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Cricket regains guard.
Fighter throws a big elbow that misses.
Cricket definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Cricket keeping full guard, as Fighter tries to pass.

Fighter is pushing down on Cricket's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cricket is fighting to maintain full guard but Fighter has managed to sneak the leg through.
Fighter wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cricket keeps working.
Fighter scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Fighter not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fighter throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Fighter trying to control from Cricket's half guard. Cricket has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Fighter throws a strike but Cricket rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Fighter looking for a sweep. Not yet Fighter, not yet.
Fighter trying to keep a closed guard but Cricket is proving a slippery customer.

Fighter had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cricket defends it easily.

Fighter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cricket doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cricket manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Cricket won't allow Fighter to sweep him here.

Fighter working for submissions but it's allowed Cricket to get to half guard.
Fighter is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Cricket wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fighter keeps working.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fighter trying to hold on to Cricket's head to control him but Cricket postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Cricket dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Unknown Fighter's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Cricket thumps Fighter with a low kick.
Cricket tries to close the distance and clinch but Fighter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Cricket pushes Fighter up against the cage in a clinch.
Fighter tries to score a body lock takedown but Cricket shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Fighter is trying to break the clinch but Cricket is controlling him.
Fighter is working for takedown but Cricket is calmly controlling the position for now.
Cricket lands a body punch in the clinch.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Cricket makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Cricket with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Fighter can't get the takedown.
Rick Cricket has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Unknown Fighter.

Fighter misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Cricket.

Fighter takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Cricket keeps control of Fighter as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Fighter blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Cricket with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Cricket misses with the head strike.
Cricket swings wildly with an uppercut but Fighter uses good head movement to avoid it.
Cricket swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Cricket tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Cricket tries a body shot but Fighter blocks it.
Fighter has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Cricket is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Cricket is pushing Fighter up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Fighter tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Cricket stalling the fight.
Fighter is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Fighter looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Cricket pushes Fighter back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Cricket is trying to stall.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Rick Cricket.
Cricket feints and then cracks Fighter's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Fighter down.
Cricket dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Fighter. That did some damage!
Fighter on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cricket lands a jab to Fighter's midsection.
Cricket turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Fighter has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Cricket.
A slapping leg kick lands for Cricket.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fighter keeps the fight on the outside.
Fighter takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Cricket connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rick Cricket showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Cricket has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
