The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gutierrez pushes Valentine up against the cage in a clinch.
Gutierrez tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Valentine smiles and moves away.
Osar Gutierrez Gutierrez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gutierrez misses with a takedown
and Valentine counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Valentine.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Osar Gutierrez Gutierrez hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Gutierrez enables Valentine to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gutierrez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Valentine drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gutierrez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gutierrez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gutierrez!

Gutierrez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Gutierrez is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Valentine's shoulder. That is not cool.
You can see the frustration on Valentine's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Valentine knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gutierrez on the ground.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Gutierrez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Valentine as he jumps to the side.

Gutierrez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Gutierrez has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Valentine! Can he survive? No! He's out! Gutierrez gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
