PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Banner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Seasy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Seasy has chosen Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bruce Banner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Aaron Seasy!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banner avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A head kick misses from Seasy.
Banner swinging wildly here.
Banner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Seasy's waist but Seasy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Banner off to one side.
Seasy lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Banner circles away quickly and effectively.

Seasy feints and as Banner raises his hands in defense, Seasy changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Banner wants to sweep here but Seasy controlling him for the moment.
Banner pulls Seasy in close to prevent any damage.

Banner scrambles and gets back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Banner drives through and clinches with Seasy against the cage.
Seasy is trying to pull guard but Banner has him pressed against the cage.
Seasy is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Banner breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Seasy has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Seasy tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Banner manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Seasy tries to score a power double leg takedown but Banner sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Seasy somewhat.

Banner fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Seasy to the ground. Banner is now in Seasy's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Seasy is trying to keep Banner in close.
Banner trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Seasy manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Banner has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Seasy gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Banner closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Seasy to the mat! Seasy manages to get full guard.
Banner sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Banner's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Seasy looking for a sweep. Not yet Seasy, not yet.

Banner stands up from guard. Let's bang!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Banner tries to close the distance and clinch up but Seasy swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Banner lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Seasy shoots for a takedown but Banner saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bruce Banner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aaron Seasy.
Banner is looking to slow Seasy down with leg kicks.

Banner closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Banner thows a huge punch but Seasy dodges it nicely.

Banner stands up from half guard.
Banner throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Banner connects with a solid leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Banner dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Seasy looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Seasy fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Seasy shoots for a double leg takedown but Banner sprawls well. He's pushed Seasy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bruce Banner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aaron Seasy.
Seasy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Banner paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Seasy looks for a takedown but Banner sprawls well.
Seasy gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Banner counters with a two punch combo.
Seasy tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Seasy is breathing heavily.

Banner gets the takedown into side control.

A lull in the action here as Banner stalls from top position.
Banner sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Seasy is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Banner remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Banner goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Seasy rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Banner's guard! Nice work there by Seasy!
Banner manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Seasy manages to get himself to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Banner wants to get up but he can't break Seasy's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Banner trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Bruce Banner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Seasy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Banner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Banner is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Seasy trying to control the position.
Seasy has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Banner has passed into side control.
Seasy trying to remain calm as Banner controls from the top position.

Banner stands up and we're back to a striking position.
A jab lands there for Banner.
Seasy misses the shot to the body.
Bruce Banner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Some wild striking there from Banner.
Banner throws a right and a left that both miss.
Seasy looks for a takedown but Banner sprawls well.
Aaron Seasy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Banner throws a leg kick which misses Seasy's front leg but catches the back leg as Seasy tries to avoid it.
Seasy gets cracked there but stands up to it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Banner dominated that second round.
That's time! Banner's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Seasy is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Banner throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Banner fails to land with a series of punches.
Seasy tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Banner swivels and escapes.
Seasy tries for a takedown but Banner circles away easily
and Banner cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Banner shoots in and bounces Seasy off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Seasy is trying to control the position but Banner postures up.
Seasy takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Seasy might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Banner haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Banner gets to his feet. Seasy looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Seasy tries for a takedown but Banner circles away easily
and Banner counters with a body kick.

Banner comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Banner misses with a two punch combination.
Banner throws a right and a left that both miss.
Seasy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Banner's waist but Banner gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Seasy off to one side.
Seasy is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Banner.
Banner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Seasy moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Banner throws a series of punches but Seasy avoids them all with ease.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Banner dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Banner.

Banner stands up and beckons Seasy to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Banner pushes Seasy up against the cage in a clinch.

Banner pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Seasy is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Banner forces Seasy back against the cage and clinches.
Seasy jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Banner walks away with a smile on his face. Seasy gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Banner misses with the combination.
Banner scores with a jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Banner moves into range and clinches up with Seasy.
Seasy changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Banner fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Banner.

Banner has closed the distance and engaged Seasy in a clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Banner wants the takedown. Seasy is fighting it off but Banner persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Seasy's guard against the cage.
Aaron Seasy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bruce Banner is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Seasy has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Banner is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Seasy.

Well Banner has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
