Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rey Malapitan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johny Baker! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Baker misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Baker gets in close and instigates a clinch. The referee is keeping an eye on Baker - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Baker breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Baker throws a series of punches but Malapitan moves out of range. That kick from Baker tenderised Malapitan's leg. Malapitan is trying to keep his angry face on. Johny Baker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Baker throws a series of punches but Malapitan moves out of range. Baker moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
It looks like Rey Malapitan has been cut. Baker tries to bum rush Malapitan with a series of wild strikes but Malapitan uses good footwork to avoid the assault. A solid leg kick lands there for Baker.
Malapitan walks forward, straight into a front kick from Baker. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Baker fails with an attempt to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Baker.
Baker cracks Malapitan with an open hand slap. Baker lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Baker gets in close and instigates a clinch. Baker prevents the takedown attempt.
Malapitan is working for takedown but Baker is calmly controlling the position for now. Baker manages to break the clinch.
Baker scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Baker connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Malapitan is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Baker steps in with a hook that catches Malapitan right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Baker follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Malapitan looks absolutely devastated.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johny Baker!
