Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tony Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cesar Vialpando (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vialpando comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Kid Frost - La Raza kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Hicks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cesar Vialpando! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hicks turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Hicks tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Vialpando manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Some wild striking there from Vialpando.
Vialpando's coach down at was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Vialpando's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Hicks shoots in looking for a takedown but Vialpando manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hicks's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Hicks tries to clinch and Vialpando counters with a three punch combo that has Hicks backing up. Hicks nods at Vialpando to acknowledge the strikes. Vialpando stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Vialpando wants it to stay on the feet. Hicks scores with a head kick. Vialpando tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Hicks bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Vialpando misses with a two punch combination.
Vialpando looks winded! Vialpando instigates a clinch. Hicks struggles to land a body shot inside as Vialpando controls his hands.

Hicks is trying to drag Vialpando to the mat but Vialpando just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Hicks tries to score a body lock takedown but Vialpando shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Hicks is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Vialpando pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hicks drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Vialpando gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Vialpando is trying to push Hicks away but Hicks has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Hicks tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Vialpando's elbow. Vialpando tries to break the clinch but Hicks is controlling the position. Hicks is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Hicks keeps control of Vialpando as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Vialpando blocks an elbow strike from Hicks.
Hicks changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Vialpando fights it off and pushes away nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hicks throws a nice outside leg kick. Vialpando defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hicks. Hicks shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vialpando as he jumps to the side. Hicks shoots for a double leg takedown but Vialpando sprawls well. He's pushed Hicks's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Vialpando scores with a hook to the body. Hicks takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Cesar Vialpando is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A nice combination there by Vialpando.
Vialpando throws a right hand that Hicks ducks under and follows up with a left that Hicks also avoids with ease.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hicks throws a wild body kick that Vialpando sees coming a mile off. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hicks. Hicks avoids the head kick by Vialpando.

Hicks darts in trying to clinch and Vialpando connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hicks misses with a head kick.

That was a close round but I would say that Tony Hicks will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Vialpando wants it to stay on the feet. Hicks wants to clinch but Vialpando slips to the side and Vialpando cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Hicks dodges the punch combination from Vialpando.

Hicks rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vialpando moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Vialpando lands with a nice body punch. Vialpando scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Hicks is looking to clinch. Hicks uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Vialpando. Hicks connects with a leg kick. Vialpando looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hicks thows a body kick. Vialpando tries to catch it but that hurt him. Vialpando slaps away a takedown attempt from Hicks, before circling back to the center of the mat. Hicks drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Hicks trying to control the position from guard on top but Vialpando is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hicks throws a big elbow that misses. Hicks tries to free his leg and advance position but Vialpando is retaining full guard. Vialpando scrambles and gets back to his feet.

and Vialpando counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Hicks misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Hicks shoots in and drives through. Vialpando sprawls well. Vialpando displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hicks. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Hicks misses with a low kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hicks takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Hicks fails with the takedown. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Tony Hicks will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Vialpando wants it to stay on the feet. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Hicks slips a jab and a cross from Vialpando.

Hicks tries to move into full mount but can't pass Vialpando's legs. Vialpando is trying to buck Hicks off. Hicks wants to control but Vialpando is keeping him busy. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hicks is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Vialpando is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
And that's the end of the fight! Tony Hicks showed his dominance in that final round. Well Hicks has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
