Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tank Abott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tank Abott is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Carwin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tank Abott! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carwin darts in and clinches Abott up against the cage. Carwin lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Abott. Carwin leaning against his opponent.
Abott gets underhooks to prevent Carwin's takedown attempt.
Carwin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Carwin is pressed up against the cage. Abott has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Carwin down to the mat. Carwin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. An inside leg kick from Carwin misses. Abott wants to clinch. Carwin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Abott's waist but Abott gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carwin off to one side. Carwin misses with a wild combination.

That's one minute gone in the round. Carwin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Abott as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane Carwin. That's going to take a lot out of him. No joy there for Carwin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Abott tries to close the distance and clinch but Carwin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Carwin seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Carwin lands with an overhand left. Abott waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Carwin. Abott drives through with a takedown into guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Abott throws a big elbow that misses. Abott looking to pass the guard. Abott lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Carwin looking to control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Abott works over Carwin with some ground and pound from guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Abott throws a big right hand that misses. Abott cracks Carwin with a solid left hand. Carwin wants to stand and escape but Abott is having none of it. Carwin is trying to control the position but Abott postures up. Carwin working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Abott. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Abott accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Abott lands a couple of elbows. Abott throws a big elbow that misses. Abott lands a couple of digs. Carwin working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Abott.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Abott throws a strike but Carwin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Carwin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Abott is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Carwin throws a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Abott working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carwin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Carwin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Carwin works over Abott with some ground and pound from guard. Abott throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carwin preventing the sweep. Carwin trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Carwin throws a strike but Abott rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Abott with a nice head shot there. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Abott with a nice head shot there. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Carwin keeping full guard, as Abott tries to pass. Carwin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tank Abott dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Abott. Carwin shoots in and gets a takedown into Abott's guard. Abott wants to stand and escape but Carwin is having none of it. Carwin postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Carwin trying to control the position from guard on top but Abott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Carwin gets to his feet. Abott looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Carwin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Abott closes the distance and pushes Carwin back into the cage. Abott tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Carwin just stands there and leans against the cage. This has been an exciting period of action! Abott breaks the clinch.
Carwin ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Abott shoots in looking for a takedown but Carwin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Abott's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Shane Carwin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tank Abott. Sloppy strikes from Abott. Those never looked like landing. Abott is breathing heavily. Abott takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Carwin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. No joy there for Carwin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Carwin connects with a body shot that sends Abott's belly button to the back. The fighters circling - Abott throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Carwin clinches with his opponent.

Carwin looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carwin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Carwin shoots in for a takedown but Abott shows good takedown defense. Abott doesn't manage to clinch there - Carwin circles away.

Carwin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Abott. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! No luck with that takedown attempt from Abott. Carwin uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Abott misses with a low kick.
Carwin closes the distance and clinches. Carwin is leaning against Abott and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Carwin manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carwin looking to control.
Carwin throws his legs up looking for a submission but Abott uses it to pass to side control.
Carwin wants to control but Abott postures up. Carwin is looking for a sweep. Abott lands a nice forearm strike. Abott stands up and we're back to a striking position. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Abott. Tank Abott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Abott gets in close and instigates a clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Abott tightens his grip and picks Carwin up, before dumping him to the ground. Carwin manages to land in guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Abott working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Abott landing with the ground and pound. Abott looking to pass the guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Abott accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Carwin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Carwin tries to get out of the position. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Carwin is trying to keep Abott in close.

Shane Carwin dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Abott moves in looking to clinch but Carwin pushes him off. Carwin lands a left and a right that send Abott crashing to the mat, dazed. Carwin thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
It looks like Tank Abott has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Abott showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Carwin.
Carwin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Abott defends it nicely. Carwin shoots in for a takedown but Abott shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Carwin missing with a left hand there. Abott was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Abott tries to close the distance and clinch but Carwin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Carwin lands a body shot.
Carwin is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Abott throws the kick towards the body but Carwin avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Abott is looking to clinch. Abott looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Carwin keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Abott looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Abott lands with a punch from half guard. Abott tries to stand but can't do so whilst Carwin controls his leg. Nice strikes from Abott there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Abott thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Carwin's head. Carwin wants to control but Abott passes into side.
Sloppy strikes there by Abott. Carwin is trying to work for a sweep but Abott has mounted him! Abott working Carwin over with strikes here. Abott lands a nice shot to the head. Abott lands a couple of good shots and Carwin has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Abott throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Carwin!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carwin tries to break free.
Abott punishes Carwin with strikes from the back mount. Abott is punishing Carwin with strikes - can he finish him?! Abott is landing with strikes from the back.
Carwin is rocked! Abott lands strikes from the back and Carwin isn't doing enough to escape the position. The referee steps in to end the fight.
