PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyron Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bradley James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tyron Romero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bradley James!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Peter Branson and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romero stuffs the takedown attempt from James. James gets slowly back to his feet.
Romero fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
James misses with a head kick.
Romero throws a nice head kick!
A chopping leg kick lands by Romero.
Romero feints and then cracks James's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow James down.
Sloppy strikes from Romero. Those never looked like landing.
James avoids the head kick by Romero.

James moves into the clinch successfully.
Romero tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. James just stands there and leans against the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, James creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

James has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Romero clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Oooh a big shot gets through from James. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

James lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
Romero wants to escape the position.
James has good solid back control here.
Romero rolls, trying to escape but James keeps control of the position.
James trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Romero doesn't escape.
Romero is trying to break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James doesn't have the hooks in and Romero manages to turn into his guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Romero controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Romero ducks down and throws a hook to the body but James moves away.

James takes the fight into the clinch.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyron Romero. That's going to take a lot out of him.

James breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

James feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Romero is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. James is aware though and is defending well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Romero has his foot on James's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. James works his way back into a safe position though.

James slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Romero is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. James is aware though and is defending well.

James got a little sloppy there for a moment and Romero has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, James has managed to get both his arms back between Romero's legs - danger averted.
James postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Romero is looking for a triangle but James pushes his legs off easily.
James stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Romero swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

We're going to have a standup here because Tyron Romero wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Romero tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Romero displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from James.
Romero connects with a body shot that sends James's belly button to the back.
Romero lands with a kick to the temple. James shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Both fighters circling a little - Romero finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
James tries for a takedown but Romero sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

James takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Romero fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

James tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Romero swivels and escapes.

James closes the distance and clinches up with Romero, looking for a takedown. James pushes Romero against the cage but Romero circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
James is breathing heavily.
Romero looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
James throws a half hearted mid kick.
James dives in and grabs Romero's left leg, looking for a takedown. Romero pushes down on James's head and hops out.
Romero throws an uppercut from half a mile away. James sees it coming and avoids it easily.
James misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Romero dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Nice uppercut there from Romero.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bradley James showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Romero's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
