Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ansgar Kurucz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derick Sprole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kurucz comes to the cage accompanied by Marek Ztraceny - Sex s Ex. Sprole has chosen Youre Gonna Go Far, Kid as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ansgar Kurucz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derick Sprole!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kurucz creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Kurucz is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Sprole's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Sprole with an attempt at a knee that misses.
I was talking to Kurucz's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Kurucz throws an elbow but it misses.
Sprole is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kurucz gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Sprole turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Sprole manages to end up in side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Sprole thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kurucz's head.

Sprole jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Kurucz is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Kurucz and Sprole has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Kurucz regains half guard, as Sprole was trying to land strikes.
Sprole is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Sprole working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kurucz is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Derick Sprole dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Sprole thows a body kick. Kurucz tries to catch it but that hurt him.

With the fighters up against the cage, Kurucz throws an elbow but misses.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Derick Sprole was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Sprole tries to clinch but Kurucz is having none of it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sprole looks to clinch
and Kurucz counters with a three punch combo that has Sprole backing up. Sprole nods at Kurucz to acknowledge the strikes.

Kurucz closes the distance and clinches.

Sprole gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Kurucz regains guard.
Sprole wants to control from the top but Kurucz keeps moving.
Kurucz utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Derick Sprole comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sprole has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
