Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Legend Killer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vinnie Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Killer kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Burn In My Light. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Legend Killer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Vinnie Smith!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Santiago Holmes and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Killer doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Smith counters with a takedown into side control.
Smith scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Killer to see if he's OK.
Killer manages to work his way to half guard, despite Smith's best efforts.

Smith is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Killer doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Smith.

Smith has hold of Killer's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Killer manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Killer tries to lock up and control but Smith gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Killer sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smith is looking for a kimura but Killer is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Smith to get the leverage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vinnie Smith dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Killer shoots in looking for a takedown but Smith manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Killer's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Killer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Smith is looking to slow Killer down with leg kicks.

and Smith counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Smith.

Smith is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Killer postures up in Smith's guard and throws a big left but Smith blocks it.

Killer would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Smith looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Killer trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom.

We're going to have a standup here because Legend Killer wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Smith circles away from the clinch attempt.
Killer stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Smith.
Killer gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Smith counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Legend Killer. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Killer wants to get back to his feet but Smith is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Smith accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Killer throws a hook to the side of Smith's head but Smith sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Killer moves in looking to clinch but Smith pushes him off.

Killer tries to improve position but can't.

Smith tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Smith tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Smith has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Killer is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Smith has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Smith moves into range and clinches up with Killer.
Smith has Killer pressed against the cage, preventing Killer from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Killer tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Smith just stands there and leans against the cage.

Smith turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Smith manages to end up in side control.

Smith is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Killer looks calm but he's in trouble here. Smith gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Killer is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Smith lets go of the hold and Killer can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:37 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Vinnie Smith!
