Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Travis Phillips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kia Turunen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Turunen has chosen Requiem for a Dream as his entrance music. Kia Turunen is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Phillips rushes Turunen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Come on Phillips - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Phillips gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Phillips perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Turunen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Phillips is working away from the top position though.
Still in half guard, Phillips seems content to control.
Phillips wants to take a breather but Turunen is having none of it.

Travis Phillips has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Phillips drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Phillips throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Turunen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Phillips wants to control from the top but Turunen keeps moving.
Turunen wants to sweep but no luck.
Turunen is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Travis Phillips just wasn't active enough.

Phillips shoots in and gets a takedown into Turunen's guard.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Kia Turunen was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Turunen misses with a shot to the body

and Phillips counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Phillips is trying to control the action in half guard but Turunen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Phillips thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Turunen's head.
Phillips stalling.

We're going to have a standup here because Travis Phillips wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Phillips moves into the clinch.

Phillips has Turunen pressed against the cage, preventing Turunen from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Phillips has picked Turunen up - he's going for a ride! Phillips dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Turunen manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Phillips is breathing heavily.
Turunen wants to sweep but no luck.
Phillips wants to control from the top but Turunen keeps moving.
Turunen is controlling Phillips's posture.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Phillips wants to stand and escape but instead Turunen has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Phillips closes the distance and clinches.
Turunen has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Phillips is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Turunen is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Phillips pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Phillips drags the fight down to the ground.
Turunen trying to control the position from guard on top but Phillips is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Turunen prevents Phillips from getting back to his feet.
Travis Phillips overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Turunen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Turunen has gone for a leg lock! Phillips slips out almost immediately though and dives into Turunen's guard.
Turunen tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Phillips wants to get up but he can't break Turunen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Turunen has his feet on Phillips's thighs here. He's pushed Phillips off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Phillips screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
