The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poirier shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gay napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Poirier is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Poirier gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Poirier gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Poirier apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Gay is rocked!
Poirier dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Gay has had enough and taps out.
