The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Renninger escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Motaro gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Renninger is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Motaro defends well.

Renninger throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Motaro escapes and throws Renninger's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Renninger is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Motaro sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Renninger has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
