PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frank Underwood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Micah Fatu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Micah Fatu was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Underwood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Micah Fatu!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Bruno Lombardi and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Underwood misses its intended target.

Fatu has taken the fight to the clinch.
Underwood tries to work over Fatu's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Underwood can't break the clinch.
I was talking to Underwood's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Underwood lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Underwood makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Fatu pushes Underwood back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Fatu with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Underwood tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Fatu just stands there and leans against the cage.

Underwood pulls Fatu into guard.

Underwood escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fatu gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fatu lying in Underwood's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Underwood decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Fatu taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Frank Underwood!
Frank Underwood took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'There are two kinds of pain. The sort of pain that makes you strong and useless pain, the sort of pain that’s only suffering. I have no patience for useless things.'.
