Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Carl Maywho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connor Flanery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flanery is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Dropkick Murphys - I'm shipping up to Boston. Connor Flanery told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Carl Maywho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Connor Flanery!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Ivan Kurochkin and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maywho closes the distance and clinches.

Maywho breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Flanery closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Maywho sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Flanery prevents Maywho from improving his position.
Flanery looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Maywho manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Flanery keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Maywho is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Flanery gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Maywho is trying to drag Flanery to the mat but Flanery just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Maywho throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Maywho looks for a takedown but Flanery sprawls well.
Flanery uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Maywho.
Flanery throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Maywho.

Maywho throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Flanery's waist but Flanery gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Maywho off to one side.

Carl Maywho is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Maywho enables Flanery to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Maywho manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Flanery tries to keep at a distance but Maywho has taken the fight into the clinch.

Flanery pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Maywho misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Flanery stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Flanery wants it to stay on the feet.
Connor Flanery seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Maywho has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Flanery can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Maywho has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Flanery has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Maywho has an active guard here but Flanery has managed to pass into half guard.
