Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Douglas Ratliff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eddyy Gonzales!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Francis DeMontford and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzales throws a head kick that misses
and Ratliff counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Ratliff looks for a takedown but Gonzales sprawls well.

Ratliff is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gonzales sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Ratliff tries to clinch up but Gonzales circles away and keeps his distance.
Ratliff dives in and grabs Gonzales's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gonzales pushes down on Ratliff's head and hops out.

Ratliff dives in for a single leg takedown but Gonzales sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Ratliff jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gonzales walks away with a smile on his face. Ratliff gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Gonzales fakes the leg kick and cracks Ratliff in the body.
Ratliff avoids the head kick by Gonzales.
Gonzales throws a front kick that sends Ratliff stumbling back into the cage.

Ratliff shoots in and drives through. Gonzales sprawls well.
Gonzales looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Ratliff bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Ratliff throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gonzales's waist but Gonzales gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ratliff off to one side.

and Gonzales takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Ratliff looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gonzales is fending him off so far but Ratliff persists. Nope, Gonzales circles away and we're back to standing.

Ratliff is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Ratliff shoots for a takedown but Gonzales saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ratliff lands with a nice combination. Gonzales backs away looking to recover.
Ratliff will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Ratliff takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Ratliff thuds his right hand into Gonzales's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Ratliff thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ratliff thows a huge punch but Gonzales dodges it nicely.
Ratliff is trying to control. Gonzales wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Douglas Ratliff wasn't doing enough on the ground.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Ratliff throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Eddyy Gonzales seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Gonzales throws a left and a right that both miss
and Ratliff counters with a nice uppercut.

Ratliff tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gonzales defends well and Ratliff ends up having to push Gonzales into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Ratliff is trying to control the position but Gonzales postures up.
Ratliff has a closed guard, preventing Gonzales from standing up.
Ratliff manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Gonzales blocking the ground and pound.

Ratliff controlling the position easily from mount.
Ratliff wants to control the pace but Gonzales is squirming around nicely.

Ratliff is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gonzales can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Gonzales bucks Ratliff off and manages to get back to his feet!

And that's the end of the fight!
