PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Red Belt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Brunch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Belt kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Dance of the Knights. Red Belt had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Red Belt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Brad Brunch!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Belt manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Brunch on his heels. He'll look to pass Brunch's guard now, I'm sure.
Belt throws a big elbow that misses.
Belt missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Belt is looking to work some ground and pound but Brunch has wrist control.
Brunch preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Belt's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Belt with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Belt makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Brunch looking for a sweep. Not yet Brunch, not yet.
Belt throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Belt has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Belt has gone for a leg lock! Brunch slips out almost immediately though and dives into Belt's guard.

Belt looking for a guillotine here but Brunch defends easily.
Belt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Brunch trying to control but Belt is working from the bottom.

Belt is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Brunch defends well.
Brunch prevents Belt from getting back to his feet.
Belt keeping moving, preventing Brunch from controlling successfully.
Belt throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Brunch trying to control the position from guard on top but Belt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Brunch slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Brad Brunch was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Brunch throws a looping overhand right but Belt ducks down to avoid it.

Belt fails to land the takedown.
Belt takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Belt takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Brunch scores with a jab. Belt acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Belt shoots for a double leg takedown but Brunch sprawls well. He's pushed Belt's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Brunch swings for the body but Belt moves out of range.
Brad Brunch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Belt shoots in looking for a takedown but Brunch manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Belt's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Red Belt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Belt changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brunch tries to avoid it but Belt manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brunch to the ground. Brunch escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Brunch cracks Belt with a right hand to the side of the head.
Brunch leaves Belt with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Brunch throws a right hand that misses

and Belt counters with a shoot takedown. Brunch fights it but they end up in guard.
Belt postures up in Brunch's guard and throws a big left but Brunch blocks it.
Brunch has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Belt has passed into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Check out the look on Belt's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Belt is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Brunch has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Belt looks up at the clock and then as Brunch takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Belt smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The ground and pound from Belt seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Belt postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Belt lands a nice forearm strike.
Brunch tries to bench press Belt off him but Belt keeps the position.
Brunch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Belt. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Belt is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Brunch knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Brunch is trying to buck Belt off.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Belt looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Red Belt dominated that round.
That's time! Belt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Belt needs to keep his hands up - Brunch had a free shot at his head there.
Brunch stuffs the takedown.
Brunch misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Belt.
Brunch defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Belt.
Brunch missing with a left hand there. Belt was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Belt fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Red Belt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brunch paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.


It looks like Red Belt has been cut.

Brunch misses with a straight right.
Belt takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Brunch is looking to chop away at Belt's legs.
Brunch lands with an overhand left.
Brunch slaps away a takedown attempt from Belt, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Belt uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Brunch.
Brunch stuffs the takedown.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brunch misses the shot to the body.
Brunch looks to land a left hand but Belt moved out of range nicely.
Brunch scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Brunch throws an off balance right hand

and Belt counters with a nice double leg into side control. Brunch won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Belt misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Belt is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Brunch knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

You can see the frustration on Brunch's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Belt tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Belt has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Belt lands a few punches from side control.
Brunch is looking for a sweep.

Belt wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Brunch, who protects the arm well.

Belt tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Belt is working to tighten his grip on Brunch's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Brunch has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Belt is really squeezing tight and eventually Brunch passes out! Belt breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Red Belt!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Red Belt waved his t-shirt featuring Fight Night Nutrition's logo in front of the cameras.
