Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tommy Coffey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Axel Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coffey lands with a slapping head kick.
It looks like Axel Sanchez has been cut. The fight moves into the clinch position. Coffey goes for a takedown attempt but Sanchez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Sanchez clinches up with Coffey and pushes him back against the cage. Coffey manages to break the clinch.
Coffey shoots and misses and Sanchez moves into the clinch. Coffey has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Sanchez after a bit of a struggle. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Coffey. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sanchez drops down looking for an ankle pick but Coffey pulls his leg out and moves away.
This has been an exciting period of action! Sanchez rushes Coffey and presses him up against the cage. Coffey can't get the takedown.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanchez is looking to stand up but Coffey isn't so interested in that idea. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Sanchez holds on and takes a little breather. Coffey won't allow Sanchez to get back to his feet. Coffey looking to sit in guard and control but Sanchez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Sanchez trying to move into half guard but instead Coffey has managed to sweep! Sanchez wants to stand and escape but Coffey is having none of it. Sanchez looks winded! Sanchez has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Coffey is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Coffey breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sanchez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Coffey looking for a takedown here - he's got it. This has been an exciting period of action! Coffey gets to his feet. Sanchez looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Sanchez looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Sanchez distracts Coffey with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sanchez makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Coffey is trying to control the position but Sanchez postures up. Sanchez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Coffey is keeping the position for now. Sanchez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Sanchez wants to control from the top but Coffey keeps moving. Sanchez lands a couple of decent looking shots. Sanchez throws a strike but Coffey rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Sanchez wants to sweep but no luck.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Coffey trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Coffey prevents Sanchez from getting back to his feet. Coffey trying to control but Sanchez is working from the bottom. Coffey is really struggling to control Sanchez but he's trying to hold on to the position. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tommy Coffey. Coffey shoots in and drives through. Sanchez sprawls well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Axel Sanchez will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Axel Sanchez's cut. That's time! Back to the action!

That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez tries to free his leg and advance position but Coffey is retaining full guard. Coffey controls Sanchez momentarily but Sanchez frees himself. Coffey can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sanchez controls the pace. Coffey keeping moving, preventing Sanchez from controlling successfully. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Sanchez postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Coffey keeping moving, preventing Sanchez from controlling successfully. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Coffey misses with a takedown attempt - Sanchez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Coffey gets caught napping as Sanchez dives in and scores a takedown. Coffey manages to retain guard. Coffey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Sanchez cracks Coffey with a solid left hand. Sanchez wants to control from the top but Coffey keeps moving. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sanchez connects with a couple of short punches. Sanchez trying to control the position from guard on top but Coffey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Coffey trying to keep a closed guard but Sanchez is proving a slippery customer.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Coffey keeping full guard, as Sanchez tries to pass. Sanchez has gone for a leg lock! Coffey slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sanchez's guard. The fighters are working up against the cage. Sanchez manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. Sanchez lands an uppercut. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Sanchez. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Sanchez is trying to trip Coffey. He has hold of a leg but Coffey is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Sanchez persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Coffey not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sanchez scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Coffey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sanchez's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sanchez looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Coffey puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sanchez regains full guard. Nicely done. Sanchez controlling Coffey's posture. Coffey wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Axel Sanchez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Axel Sanchez's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!
The fight moves into the clinch position. Coffey looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Coffey breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Sanchez tries to clinch up. Coffey displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sanchez. Sanchez darts in looking for a takedown but Coffey gets double underhooks and turns Sanchez into the cage. Sanchez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Tommy Coffey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Axel Sanchez. Coffey tries for a takedown but Sanchez manages to get underhooks.
A head punch on the inside from Coffey fails to land. Sanchez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Sanchez pulls Coffey into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Coffey wanted to stand there but Sanchez had control of the position. Coffey advances to half guard. Coffey missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Coffey is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sanchez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Coffey. Coffey not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Coffey is keen to just control but Sanchez is a slippery customer. Sanchez wants to improve his position but Coffey is controlling well.
Sanchez tries to kick Coffey off but Coffey keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Coffey wants to stand up but Sanchez has a hold of him and won't allow it. Sanchez is trying to stand up here but Coffey is controlling him well. Coffey seems to be working for a kimura but Sanchez defends the submission attempt. Sanchez wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coffey wants to control but Sanchez is keeping him busy. Sanchez looks like he's trying to stand up.
Coffey wants to take a breather but Sanchez is having none of it.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Tommy Coffey wasn't doing enough on the ground. Nice cross by Coffey. Coffey defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sanchez. Sanchez leaves Coffey with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sanchez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Coffey sprawls well initially but Sanchez persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Coffey actively working from the bottom here. Sanchez lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Sanchez tries to pass to full mount but Coffey defends it. Sanchez throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Sanchez performing his best blanket impression for a moment. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sanchez trying to control from half guard but Coffey is working away.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Axel Sanchez. I've got Sanchez winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
