Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jayme Thales! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jermain Leaseau! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Daniel Franklin and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thales throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Thales misses with a takedown and Leaseau counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Leaseau. Thales is working for takedown but Leaseau is calmly controlling the position for now. Leaseau is trying to pull guard but Thales has him pressed against the cage. Leaseau gets a trip takedown into half guard. Leaseau content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Thales is trying to maintain the position but Leaseau is very close to passing his half guard. Thales taking some punishment here, with Leaseau in his half guard. Thales is trying to get back to full guard. Leaseau content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leaseau is nestled in close to Thales, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Thales trying to control but Leaseau postures up.
Thales tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Leaseau manages to move to mount!
Leaseau prevents Thales from getting the reversal. Leaseau scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Thales tries to control Leaseau's body but Leaseau pushes him off. Thales squirms to his side and now Leaseau has his back! Leaseau is punishing Thales with some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leaseau is cranking Thales's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Thales! He's tightened the choke and Thales is tapping out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jermain Leaseau!
