Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ronda Rousey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quincy Reeder! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reeder throws a series of strikes that have Rousey backpedaling.
Reeder throws a wild body kick that Rousey sees coming a mile off. Rousey throws a series of punches but Reeder moves out of range. Rousey tries for a takedown but Reeder sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Rousey throws a body punch but Reeder moves out of range. Reeder misses with the combination.
Rousey fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Rousey takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Reeder looks winded! Rousey clinches with his opponent.
Rousey has had enough of the clinch but Reeder keeps him there for the moment. Rousey breaks the clinch.
Nice sprawl there from Reeder as Rousey shoots in. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronda Rousey. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rousey scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Good exchange - Rousey coming out on top. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A punch combination from Rousey misses. Rousey could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Rousey lands a nice hook to Reeder's body. Reeder takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Rousey misses with a looping right. Quincy Reeder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reeder tries to sprawl but Rousey drives through with a takedown into half guard. Rousey is taking a breather. Reeder says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Rousey has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Ground and pound from Rousey. Rousey passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Reeder! The referee warns Reeder that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Reeder is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rousey tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Reeder is still in real trouble! Can Rousey finish him? Rousey quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Rousey but it's paid off an Reeder is forced to tap! Nice work by Rousey.
