Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pablo Barnes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Max Heimer! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, John Roberts and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Heimer shoots in for a takedown and gets it. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Heimer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Barnes keeps working. Heimer sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Barnes defending well though. Heimer trying to mount his opponent but Barnes defends it. Barnes gets back to full guard.
Barnes wants to stand up but Heimer is controlling him. Heimer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Barnes works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Heimer won't allow Barnes to get back to his feet. Barnes is trying to keep Heimer in close.

Heimer is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Barnes is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Barnes has escaped and now he's on top! Heimer lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Barnes!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barnes manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes. Barnes tries to kick Heimer off but Heimer keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Heimer not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Heimer looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Barnes trying to control here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Heimer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Barnes is just riding it out for now. Heimer eventually gives up the hold. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Barnes pushes Heimer off looking to stand but Heimer dives back in and keeps control.
Barnes is concentrating on defense, preventing Heimer from advancing position. Heimer with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Heimer drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Barnes has a closed guard, preventing Heimer from standing up. Heimer slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. An elbow from Heimer crashes against the mat.
Heimer misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Heimer is looking to take a break and control but Barnes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Heimer might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Barnes haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Heimer seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Barnes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Heimer thumps the canvas. That's one minute gone in the round. Barnes with a nice head shot there. Heimer trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Heimer throws his legs up looking for a submission but Barnes uses it to pass to side control.
Heimer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Heimer is looking for a sweep. Heimer is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Barnes works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Heimer is trying to work for a sweep but Barnes has mounted him! Heimer is trying to escape the mount.
Barnes is in the full mount, landing strikes. Barnes avoids the attempt from Heimer to control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Heimer can do anything to dispel that myth. Barnes has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Heimer's face.
Heimer tries to lock up and control but Barnes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Heimer can't escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barnes unloading with bombs! Barnes is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Heimer can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Heimer tries to reverse the position but Barnes maintains control. Max Heimer has got the better of the ground game so far. Barnes landing strikes from the mount. Barnes looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Barnes fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Pablo Barnes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Heimer is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
And that's the end of the fight! Pablo Barnes showed his dominance in that final round. Well Heimer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
