Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Trevor Sweeney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Liubomir Panayotov! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Panayotov pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Sweeney tries to clinch but Panayotov moves out of range. Sweeney shoots in and bounces Panayotov off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Sweeney is looking to work some ground and pound but Panayotov has wrist control. Sweeney postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Sweeney working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Panayotov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sweeney. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Sweeney lands a couple of decent looking shots.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sweeney is standing up over Panayotov. Panayotov looks to escape but Sweeney dives into side control.
Sweeney works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Panayotov is trying to improve his position. Panayotov takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Panayotov defending against the ground and pound. Panayotov takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Sweeney lands a few punches from side control. That's four minutes gone in the round. Panayotov is looking to get back to his feet here but Sweeney is keeping cool and he's managed to take Panayotov's back. Sweeney sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Panayotov taps out!
