Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Maik Moehring! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Teodor Grzmot! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Moehring gets the takedown into side control. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Moehring tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Grzmot is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Grzmot is still trying to improve position. Moehring working the body and head with strikes. Moehring fails to land a wild elbow strike.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Grzmot tries to strike from the bottom but misses. Moehring goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Grzmot rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Moehring's guard! Nice work there by Grzmot! Grzmot looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grzmot postures up.
Grzmot won't allow Moehring to sweep him here. Moehring is working hard here to advance position. Moehring has momentary wrist control but Grzmot slips an elbow through the middle. Grzmot trying to control the position from guard on top but Moehring is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Moehring looking to hit a scissor sweep but Grzmot is one step ahead there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grzmot scoring with punches to the head and body. Moehring thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Grzmot throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Grzmot has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Grzmot is looking to stand up but Moehring won't let him. Grzmot decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Moehring scores with a head kick. Grzmot tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
It looks like Teodor Grzmot has been cut. Moehring is breathing heavily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Grzmot tries to bum rush Moehring with a series of wild strikes but Moehring uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Moehring dives in and grabs Grzmot's left leg, looking for a takedown. Grzmot pushes down on Moehring's head and hops out. Grzmot tries to clinch up but Moehring circles away and keeps his distance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Moehring swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Moehring displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Grzmot. Grzmot is trying hard to land a takedown here. Moehring sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Moehring wants to clinch. Moehring keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Maik Moehring has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Teodor Grzmot. Grzmot takes a kick to the side of the head. Moehring darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grzmot wants to control but Moehring is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Grzmot is looking to improve his position.
Grzmot makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Grzmot. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Grzmot manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Moehring manages to get himself to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Maik Moehring dominated that round. The cut man is working on Teodor Grzmot's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Moehring keeps the fight on the outside. Moehring swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Grzmot. Grzmot keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Grzmot closes this distance looking for a takedown but Moehring circles away. Moehring closes the distance and pushes Grzmot back into the cage. Moehring tries to pull guard but Grzmot forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Moehring drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Grzmot gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maik Moehring. That's going to take a lot out of him. Moehring breaks the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grzmot fails with a takedown attempt. Grzmot misses with a takedown and Moehring counters with a head kick. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Moehring throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Grzmot counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Grzmot tries a low kick but Moehring avoids it. Grzmot misses with a head kick.
Moehring shoots in but no luck this time. Moehring defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Grzmot. Moehring lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Moehring moves into the clinch successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Moehring landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Moehring digs a right hand underneath Grzmot's ribcage. Grzmot let out a lung full of air as it connected. Grzmot is looking to take this one to the mat. Moehring breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Moehring drives through with a takedown into guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Moehring working some strikes from top position. Moehring trying to control but Grzmot is working from the bottom. Moehring wants to get up but he can't break Grzmot's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Maik Moehring overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grzmot pushes Moehring off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Moehring avoids the body shot from Grzmot.
Grzmot misses with the body kick and Moehring holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Grzmot takes a knee right on the jaw!
Grzmot gets control of Moehring's arms and successfully pulls guard. Grzmot will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Grzmot throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Moehring looking to sit in guard and control but Grzmot gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Grzmot pushes down on Moehring's leg and manages to get into half guard. Grzmot moves into full mount! Moehring won't be happy about that! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Grzmot trying to control but Moehring is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Grzmot will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Moehring shoots in and gets a takedown into Grzmot's guard. Moehring looking to pass the guard. Moehring trying to control but Grzmot is working from the bottom. Grzmot wants to sweep here but Moehring controlling him for the moment. Moehring knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Grzmot on the ground. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Moehring with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moehring wants to control from the top but Grzmot keeps moving. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Maik Moehring has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Moehring feints and as Grzmot raises his hands in defense, Moehring changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Grzmot working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Moehring doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Grzmot is tightening it up a little... Moehring has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Moehring reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Moehring taps out! Nice BJJ there by Grzmot!
