Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dom Wilder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitor Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dom Wilder has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dom Wilder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vitor Alves!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Joseph Jones and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves avoids the head kick by Wilder.
Alves keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Wilder gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Wilder has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Alves is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Wilder is trying to drag Alves to the mat but Alves just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dom Wilder. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Alves tries for a takedown. No joy.
Alves can't break the clinch.
Alves tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Alves slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Alves wants to stand but Wilder has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Wilder has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Alves postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Wilder has his foot on Alves's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alves works his way back into a safe position though.
Alves wants to control from the top but Wilder keeps moving.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Wilder is looking for a triangle but Alves pushes his legs off easily.
Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wilder swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Alves must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Wilder tries to land a sweep but no joy.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Alves throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Alves lands with a kick to the temple. Wilder shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Wilder has a takedown stuffed.
Wilder looks for a takedown but Alves sprawls well.

Wilder fails in his attempt to clinch.
Wilder avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Wilder looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Wilder shoots in but no luck this time.
Wilder is breathing heavily.
Wilder throws a right and a left that Alves avoids nicely.
A combination from Wilder does no damage.
Wilder shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Alves as he jumps to the side.
Wilder changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Alves tries to avoid it but Wilder manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Alves to the ground. Alves escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Alves should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Wilder avoids a kick to the body.
Horrible takedown by Wilder or perhaps it was just good defense by Alves which made him look bad.
Wilder looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Wilder fails to land the takedown.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Alves loads up on a big right hand but Wilder slips the punch.

Alves tries to clinch up but Wilder circles away and keeps his distance.
Wilder misses the shot to the body.
Alves looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Alves throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Alves fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Alves scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Wilder shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Alves counters with a left and a right that stings Wilder.

Alves has closed the distance and engaged Wilder in a clinch.
Wilder prevents Alves from breaking the clinch.
Alves goes for a takedown attempt but Wilder pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Wilder swats away the attempt to clinch by Alves.
Wilder falls off balance throwing a combination

and Alves counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vitor Alves dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Alves finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Wilder shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Alves counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Wilder!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wilder wants to control but Alves is having none of it.
Wilder is trying to reverse the position but instead Alves has taken his back - oops!
Alves throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

Wilder just trying to survive but Alves is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Wilder is trapped and Alves is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wilder is really stuck here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alves tries to get the hooks in deep but Wilder pushed the leg off.
Wilder wants to escape the position.
Alves has good solid back control here.

I really don't envy Wilder right now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Alves counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Alves.

Wilder had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Alves is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Wilder Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Alves's back instead.

Wilder has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Alves has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Alves is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.
Alves throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Wilder misses with a takedown

and Alves counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Alves wanted to stand there but Wilder had control of the position.

Alves gets to his feet - Wilder follows without any prompting.
Wilder lands a nice hook to Alves's body. Alves takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Wilder has his takedown stuffed

so Alves counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Wilder is looking for a triangle here but Alves uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Vitor Alves showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Alves feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Wilder will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Wilder escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alves gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Alves makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Wilder is trying to control the position but Alves postures up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

You can see the frustration on Wilder's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Alves tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Wilder is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Alves trying to control the action but Wilder is working from the bottom.
Wilder is looking to improve his position.
Wilder has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Alves is working away from the top position though.

Alves is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Wilder gets his way!

Wilder working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alves doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alves manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Alves is looking to advance position but Wilder won't allow it.
Wilder wants to improve his position but Alves is controlling well.

Dom Wilder has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Alves looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Vitor Alves is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alves tries to close the distance and clinch but Wilder swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A slow jab from Wilder misses its intended target.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Vitor Alves.
Well Alves has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
