Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rafael Cortez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sven Miller!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Cortez.
Miller doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Cortez counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Miller bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Miller postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Cortez tries to improve position but can't.
You can see the frustration on Cortez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Miller lands an elbow.
Cortez is not content to let Miller control the position.
Cortez wants to control but Miller postures up.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cortez tries to improve position but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Miller working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Miller really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cortez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Miller creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.


It looks like Rafael Cortez has been cut.
Cortez is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Cortez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Miller landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cortez manages to get to full guard.
Cortez is trying to keep Miller in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Miller postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.


Rafael Cortez's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Cortez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Miller with a flurry of punches that miss.
Miller loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Miller working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.


Jeez, Rafael Cortez's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miller slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Miller stands up over Cortez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Rafael Cortez's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Sven Miller!
