Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Olen Gibbs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dane Allan! The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, John Mangel and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Allan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Gibbs keeping moving, preventing Allan from controlling successfully. Allan is looking to work some ground and pound but Gibbs has wrist control. Gibbs has Allan pulled in close to control his posture. Gibbs manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Gibbs putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Allan can do anything to dispel that myth. Allan tries to hold on but Gibbs pushes him away. Gibbs punishing his opponent with strikes. Gibbs with good strikes from the mount here! This has been an exciting period of action! Allan is desperately trying to improve his position but Gibbs has a good base and remains in mount. Allan defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Gibbs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gibbs working the ground and pound effectively.
Allan is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Allan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Gibbs landing strikes, looking to finish! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gibbs scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Allan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gibbs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Allan tries to lock up and control but Gibbs gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Allan is looking to get to half guard. Gibbs working away from the top, dropping strikes. Allan looks winded! Gibbs landing strikes from the mount. Gibbs looking to finish Allan with some ground and pound. This is bad for Allan!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gibbs in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gibbs is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Allan can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Gibbs landing punches. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gibbs cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Gibbs scoring with strikes but Allan is staying in there. Gibbs has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Allan in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Gibbs wants to finish this one by submission but Allan is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gibbs. Gibbs is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Allan is forced to tap! Great finish!
