Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kurt McConor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Patrick Givens! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A looping hook to the body misses from McConor. Givens does a little dance to reset his feet. Givens tries to close the distance and clinch but McConor swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. McConor manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Givens on his heels. He'll look to pass Givens's guard now, I'm sure. McConor stands up from Givens's guard - McConor perhaps looking for a knockout. Givens throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McConor's waist but McConor gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Givens off to one side. McConor tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Givens is able to avoid easily. McConor fails to land with a series of punches.
McConor dives in and grabs Givens's left leg, looking for a takedown. Givens pushes down on McConor's head and hops out. McConor misses with a low kick. Givens misses with a takedown attempt - McConor sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Givens is looking to clinch. McConor misses with a low kick. McConor has a takedown stuffed. McConor closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Givens quickly recovers to half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McConor gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Givens gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. McConor has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Givens is proving hard to escape from. McConor decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Givens, up you get! McConor swings for the body but Givens moves out of range.
McConor fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Givens to the ground. McConor is now in Givens's guard. McConor stands and steps away. Givens gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Nice sprawl there from Givens as McConor shoots in. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kurt McConor. That's going to take a lot out of him. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Givens.
McConor is breathing heavily. Givens throws a head kick that misses. Givens tries to close the distance and clinch up but McConor swats him away and circles back towards the center. McConor shoots in looking for a takedown but Givens manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McConor's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. McConor changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Givens looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Givens is looking for a sweep. Givens wants to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McConor decides to stand up, so the ref orders Givens to his feet. McConor feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. McConor stands up from Givens's guard - McConor perhaps looking for a knockout. McConor shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Givens misses with a takedown attempt - McConor sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. McConor will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Givens! McConor decides to stand back up. McConor steps back and let's Givens get back to his feet. Givens moves in looking to clinch but McConor pushes him off. McConor misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. McConor throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Givens was covering up waiting for the punch and McConor finishes the takedown easily into guard. McConor decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Givens, up you get! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McConor misses with a head kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Givens tries to sprawl but McConor drives through with a takedown into half guard. McConor postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Givens to stand up. McConor drives through with a takedown into guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Givens can do anything to dispel that myth. McConor won't allow Givens to get back to his feet. McConor gets to his feet. Givens looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! McConor closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McConor lands in his opponent's guard. McConor gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. McConor changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Givens tries to avoid it but McConor manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Givens to the ground. Givens escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! McConor fails with the takedown letting Givens counter with a right hand. McConor throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McConor changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Givens looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Givens is defended easily by McConor. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from McConor. McConor shoots for a double leg takedown but Givens sprawls well. He's pushed McConor's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Givens feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Givens must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Givens trying to control but McConor is working from the bottom. The fighters are working up against the cage. McConor manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. McConor looking for a takedown. Givens has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed McConor clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! McConor has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. McConor is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it. McConor throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. McConor avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
