The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Myers needs to keep his hands up - Heyat had a free shot at his head there.

Myers closes the distance and clinches up with Heyat, looking for a takedown. Myers pushes Heyat against the cage but Heyat circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Heyat scores with a one two! Myers had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Myers throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Myers feints and as Heyat raises his hands in defense, Myers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Myers drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Heyat dives on top into guard.
Heyat stays in close to Myers's body and controls the position.

Heyat got a little sloppy there for a moment and Myers has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Heyat has managed to get both his arms back between Myers's legs - danger averted.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round but I would say that Gabriel Heyat will probably get the nod.
