Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Cotia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maniek King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fernando Cotia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Maniek King!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
King shoots in and drives through. Cotia sprawls well.
Cotia darts in trying to clinch

and King counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by King.
Cotia prevents King from breaking the clinch.
Cotia tries to pull guard but King holds him up against the cage and eventually Cotia drops back down to his feet.
A short right from King on the inside.
King is trying to drag Cotia to the mat but Cotia just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Cotia goes for a takedown attempt but King pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fernando Cotia. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cotia.

Cotia stuffs the takedown attempt from King. King gets slowly back to his feet.
Cotia closes the distance looking to clinch

and King counters by moving into the clinch.
Still in the clinch, King scores with a nice short uppercut.
A bit of stalling here from King.
Cotia is trying to drag King to the mat but King just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
King stalls.
Cotia is trying to force a seperation but King has the dominant position.

Cotia tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
King goes for a takedown attempt but Cotia pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

King has taken the fight to the clinch.
King wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Cotia has him pressed against the cage.
Cotia tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. King smiles and moves away.

King takes the fight into the clinch.
King is trying to break the clinch but Cotia is controlling him.

King slows down the pace here.
Cotia is looking for a takedown up against the cage. King gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
King can't break the clinch.

King drags the fight down to the ground.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Cotia looking to pass the guard.

King had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cotia defends it easily.
Cotia trying to control but King is working from the bottom.

King looking for a guillotine here but Cotia defends easily.
Cotia wants to get up but he can't break King's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
King is adopting a defensive guard.

King is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cotia defends well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maniek King dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


King fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cotia manages to avoid it.

King fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cotia to the ground. King is now in Cotia's guard.
King is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Cotia looking for subs off his back but King has passed one foot through into half guard.

King postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Cotia to stand up.
King tries a low kick but Cotia avoids it.
Cotia tries to close the distance and clinch up but King swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Cotia feints a jab promting King to slip. Cotia then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. King slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

King closes the distance and clinches.
King tries to break free but Cotia pushes him back against the cage.
King gets underhooks to prevent Cotia's takedown attempt.
Cotia keeps the fight in the clinch, despite King's efforts to push away.
Cotia wants to break free but King has control.
King letting Cotia take a breather here.
Cotia tries to break free but King pushes him back against the cage.
King tries to break the clinch but Cotia is controlling the position.
King throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Cotia wants a takedown.
Cotia prevents the takedown attempt.
Cotia drops to a knee looking for a takedown but King gets the underhooks and prevents it.

King lands a body punch.
Cotia misses with some punches.

King successfully pulls guard.

King looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cotia is one step ahead there.
King thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
King wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Cotia really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Maniek King.
King is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cotia sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from King.
King avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Cotia tries for a takedown but King sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
King keeps the fight on the outside.
King shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cotia pinned against the cage. Cotia gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Cotia wants to clinch.
King circles away from the clinch attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cotia fails with a takedown attempt.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Cotia - that will leave a mark!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maniek King showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Cotia tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but King defends well and Cotia ends up having to push King into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Cotia is trying to stall.
King throws an elbow but it's blocked.
King prevents Cotia from breaking the clinch.
King gets underhooks to prevent Cotia's takedown attempt.
King drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Cotia gets the underhooks and prevents it.

King jumps into guard, dragging Cotia to the mat.
Cotia wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.
Cotia looking to sit in guard and control but King gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

King showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
King works a leg free and moves into half guard.
King prevents Cotia from improving his position.

King stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Cotia closes the distance and clinches up with King, looking for a takedown. Cotia pushes King against the cage but King circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fernando Cotia. That's going to take a lot out of him.

King drives through and clinches with Cotia against the cage.
Cotia wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Cotia is looking to break free of the clinch but King has double underhooks.
King keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Cotia's efforts to push away.
King is pressed up against the cage. Cotia has hold of a leg and is looking to drag King down to the mat. King avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
King shoots in for a takedown but Cotia shows good takedown defense.
King closes the distance and lands a one-two.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Donk. King catches Cotia right on the button with a cross.


Cotia is rocked!
Cotia fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but King avoids it really well and circles away.
Oh Cotia is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
King tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cotia swivels and escapes.
Cotia seems to have got his legs back now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cotia throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around King's waist but King gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cotia off to one side.
King shoots in and drives through. Cotia sprawls well.
Cotia wants to clinch

and King holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Cotia is trying to work for a single leg takedown but King pulls him back up using the underhooks.
King blocks an elbow strike.
Cotia tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Cotia gets underhooks to prevent King's takedown attempt.
King is pushing Cotia up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Cotia is trying to push King away but King has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Cotia looking to slow down the pace here.
Cotia is looking to take this one to the mat.
King is working for takedown but Cotia is calmly controlling the position for now.
Cotia has King pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. King manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Cotia goes for a takedown attempt but King pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
King shoots in for a takedown but Cotia shows good takedown defense.

And that's the end of the fight!
Maniek King comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well King has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
