The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Bruyn lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
It looks like Mark Joseph has been cut.
Joseph blocks a head kick by De Bruyn.
Joseph takes a kick to the side of the head.
De Bruyn throws a head kick that misses.

De Bruyn throws a jab but it's blocked by Joseph.
Jaco De Bruyn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Joseph closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Joseph is nestled in close to De Bruyn, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Well, if Joseph is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

De Bruyn has hold of Joseph's hands but Joseph slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Joseph lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
De Bruyn slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Joseph content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because De Bruyn has locked up a guillotine! De Bruyn's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Joseph is holding on here and De Bruyn must be using up a lot of energy. Joseph has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! De Bruyn gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
