PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Teddy Sheehan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Bova (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anthony Bova told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Teddy Sheehan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bova is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Sheehan.
Bova moves out of range as Sheehan strikes.

Sheehan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Bova is refusing to be controlled, as Sheehan sits in half guard.
Sheehan wants to free his trapped foot but Bova is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sheehan in particular looking to stall.

Sheehan wants to work for an arm triangle but Bova is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Sheehan wants to take a breather but Bova is having none of it.
Sheehan wants to advance to full mount but Bova doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Bova is defending against the submission attempts here by Sheehan.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sheehan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bova defends it easily.

Bova avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sheehan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Bova's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bova accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sheehan is on top in guard.
