Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Clinton Roy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ong Bak!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bak dives in and scores a takedown into Roy's guard.
Bak with a flurry of punches that miss.
Bak is fighting to break Roy's control of his arms but Roy is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Roy wants to sweep but no luck.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bak accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bak throws a big elbow that misses.
Bak lands a couple of elbows.
Bak working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Roy utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Roy wants to stand up but Bak is controlling him.

Bak postures up in Roy's guard and throws a big left but Roy blocks it.
Roy pulls Bak in close to his closed guard and prevents Bak from doing any damage or advancing position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Clinton Roy wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Bak swats away the attempt to clinch by Roy.
Bak misses with a kick to the body
and Roy counters with a one-two to the body.
Roy shoots in for a takedown but Bak shows good takedown defense.
Roy tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Bak holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Roy is working for takedown but Bak is calmly controlling the position for now.
Roy is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bak pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clinton Roy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bak has clasped his hands together around Roy's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Bak throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Roy is trying to control Bak's posture but Bak avoids it.
Roy dodges the ground and pound from Bak.
Roy is looking to regain half guard here but Bak keeps moving and retains side control.
Roy keeps Bak under control for a moment.
Bak looks up at the clock and then as Roy takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Bak smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Bak looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Roy is avoiding damage well.

Roy manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Roy seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Roy is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Roy is controlling the pace.
Roy wants to stand up but Bak has a hold of him and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ong Bak dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Roy lunges at Bak with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Bak's hand.
Bak throws the kick towards the body but Roy avoids it.

Roy has Bak up against the cage in a clinch.
Roy is trying to break the clinch but Bak is controlling him.
Bak prevents a takedown attempt there.

Roy successfully pulls guard.
Bak missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Roy controls Bak momentarily but Bak frees himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bak postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Roy tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ong Bak has got the better of the ground game so far.
Roy controlling the position.
Bak with a nice head shot there.
Roy is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Roy looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bak must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bak is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Bak cracks Roy with a solid left hand.
Roy controls Bak momentarily but Bak frees himself.
Roy seems keen to control Bak's posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Clinton Roy just wasn't active enough.
Bak lands with a big left! Roy is wobbled badly! Bak comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Roy to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
