Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Nuclear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Stien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nuclear's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Nuclear Assault - Critical Mass. Ben Stien is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, David Nuclear!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Stien!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, John Mangel and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stien shoots in for a takedown but Nuclear shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Stien is defended easily by Nuclear.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Stien.
David Nuclear has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Stien.
Stien throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Nuclear, right into the meat.
Stien fails with a takedown attempt.

Stien has taken the fight to the clinch.
Nuclear lands a left hand.

Stien has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Nuclear is trying to keep an underhook but Stien manages to get the takedown into half guard.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Nuclear has his hands clasped together around Stien's back. He's all about the action.
Nuclear tries to get to full guard but Stien has control of the leg.

Stien postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stien accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Nuclear is wriggling around but Stien manages to pass to half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Nuclear is refusing to be controlled, as Stien sits in half guard.
Nuclear knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stien on the ground.

Nuclear keeping control of the position.
Nuclear is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Stien wants to take a breather but Nuclear is having none of it.
Nuclear preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Nuclear has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Stien is working away from the top position though.
Stien not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Nuclear is looking to control Stien's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nuclear avoid being mounted?
Nuclear has hold of Stien's hands but Stien slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Nuclear keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of David Nuclear.
Stien tries for a takedown but Nuclear circles away easily
and Nuclear makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

No joy there for Nuclear, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ben Stien seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stien looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nuclear is fending him off so far but Stien persists. Nope, Nuclear circles away and we're back to standing.

Stien closes the distance and clinches.
Nuclear dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Nuclear tries to land a knee to the head but Stien blocks with his arms.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Nuclear.
Nuclear pushes off an throws an elbow but Stien leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Nuclear is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Stien is keeping busy.
Nuclear prevents the takedown attempt.
Nuclear is pressed up against the cage. Stien has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Nuclear down to the mat. Nuclear avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Nuclear goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Stien shoots in but Nuclear avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Stien shoots in looking for a takedown. Nuclear tries to sprawl out of it but Stien keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nuclear manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Stien has closed the distance and engaged Nuclear in a clinch.
I was talking to Nuclear's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nuclear is leaning against Stien and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Stien pushes Nuclear back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Nuclear pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that David Nuclear will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Stien lands a body shot.
The fighters circling - Stien throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Stien has a takedown stuffed.

Nuclear gets tackled into the cage by Stien. Stien maintains the clinch.

Nuclear is fighting off a takedown attempt but Stien is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Nuclear to the mat. Nuclear regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Stien drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Stien jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Nuclear wants to stand up but Stien is controlling him.

Nuclear is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Stien is controlling him.
Stien is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

David Nuclear has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Stien takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Stien misses with an uppercut
and Nuclear counters with a nice body shot.

Stien is breathing heavily.
Stien throws a big shot that misses.
Stien takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Nuclear on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Nuclear tries to get out of the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nuclear is pulling down on Stien's head to control his posture.
Stien is looking to work some ground and pound but Nuclear has wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stien gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Nuclear misses with a short punch on the inside.
Nuclear lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Nuclear putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Stien in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Ben Stien has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nuclear is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Stien has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Stien is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nuclear knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Nuclear tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Stien wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Stien feints and as Nuclear raises his hands in defense, Stien changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Nuclear has had enough of the clinch but Stien keeps him there for the moment.

Stien tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Nuclear smiles and moves away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nuclear lands a hook that snaps the head of Stien backwards.

Stien shoots in looking for a takedown. Nuclear tries to sprawl out of it but Stien keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nuclear manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Nuclear cracks a nice hook into Stien's ribs.

Stien walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Stien goes for a double leg but Nuclear avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Nuclear continues to drive forward.

Nuclear is trying to maintain a safe position but Stien gets an underhook and turns Nuclear into the cage.
Nuclear gets underhooks to prevent Stien's takedown attempt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

David Nuclear showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nuclear, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking David Nuclear rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
