Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leon Lance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arturo Gatti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leon Lance could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Arturo Gatti's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Leon Lance! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 26 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Arturo Gatti! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gatti fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Gatti avoids the body shot from Lance.
Gatti shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lance as he jumps to the side. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Lance checks a leg kick. Gatti fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Leon Lance has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arturo Gatti. Lance moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
It looks like Arturo Gatti has been cut. Gatti looks winded! Gatti closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gatti lands in his opponent's guard. Gatti must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lance pulls Gatti in close to his closed guard and prevents Gatti from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lance looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Lance has control of Gatti's left arm, preventing Gatti from doing any damage. Lance working a defensive guard here.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Lance controlling the position.
We're going to have a standup here because Leon Lance wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Lance works Gatti's body with a nice hook. Lance throws a combination that misses so Gatti counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Gatti being controlled here momentarily. Lance looking to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gatti wants to control from the top but Lance keeps moving.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Gatti throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lance was covering up waiting for the punch and Gatti finishes the takedown easily into guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Lance is trying to control the position but Gatti postures up. Lance tries to land a sweep but no joy. Gatti stands up from guard. Let's bang! Lance throws a hook but Gatti avoids it easily. Lance throws a hook to the side of Gatti's head but Gatti sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gatti fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lance misses with a looping left. Gatti scores with a head kick.
Lance misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gatti shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Lance lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Gatti! Gatti is squirming around, avoiding Lance's attempts to control the action. Lance fails to move to back control. Lance is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gatti can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gatti is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Lance working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Gatti tries to lock up and control but Lance gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Lance seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Gatti is holding on tight.
Gatti has given up his back here. Will Lance look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Gatti controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Lance has managed to slip his arm under Gatti's chin. This could be all over... yep, Gatti is tapping out! Submission win for Lance.

The defeated Arturo Gatti had this to say: 'i said to myself, if i would loose against leon lance again i would retire! so i hope i get released from the organisation after this fight. thanks for everything but im gonna retire now!'.
