Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andy McCallum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sterling Slater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sterling Slater has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Andy McCallum's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andy McCallum!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sterling Slater!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slater shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McCallum as he avoids it easily.
Slater misses with a takedown attempt - McCallum sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Slater shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McCallum sprawls well. McCallum wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Slater gets slowly back to his feet.
Andy McCallum has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sterling Slater.

McCallum looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
McCallum seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

McCallum is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Slater is looking for a sweep. McCallum is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Slater is trying to maintain the position but McCallum is very close to passing his half guard.

Slater has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Slater is doing well to control the position and prevent McCallum from advancing to side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McCallum accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
McCallum wants to control from the top but Slater keeps moving.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

McCallum unloads with some shots from mount but Slater bucks and avoids them well.
Slater tries to hold on but McCallum pushes him away.

McCallum wants to take his opponent's back but Slater doesn't allow it.
McCallum looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Slater gets back to half guard.
McCallum is trying to control the action in half guard but Slater is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

McCallum is looking for a kimura but Slater is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for McCallum to get the leverage.

Slater moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

McCallum drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McCallum jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Slater has control of McCallum's left arm, preventing McCallum from doing any damage.
Slater bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McCallum's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Slater is in close to McCallum's body, working some short punches and elbows.
McCallum has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Slater chips away with some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sterling Slater will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


McCallum misses with an uppercut.

Slater closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into McCallum's guard.

Slater wants to control from the top but McCallum keeps moving.

McCallum manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Slater manages to get himself to full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

McCallum drives through with a takedown into Slater's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

McCallum is fighting to break Slater's control of his arms but Slater is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Slater is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
McCallum wants to control but Slater is keeping busy.
McCallum is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Team Listerman, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Slater lands a nice short elbow.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Slater makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Slater is pushing down on McCallum's leg trying to pass to half guard. McCallum is fighting to maintain full guard but Slater has managed to sneak the leg through.
McCallum tries to roll over but Slater keeps him under control.

McCallum is not content to let Slater control the position.

Sterling Slater showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Slater drops McCallum with a big left hand and mounts him. McCallum is in big trouble!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Slater avoids the attempt from McCallum to control.
Whack. That's a big, big shot from Slater! McCallum is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Sterling Slater!
Sterling Slater tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
The defeated Andy McCallum had this to say: 'Sorry to all my fans for this loss. Didn't perform as well as I expected, but I will come back stronger than ever.'.
