PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris McCalister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Billy Bob has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Billy Bob seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Billy Bob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chris McCalister!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McCalister dives in and scores a takedown into Bob's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
McCalister stays in close to Bob's body and controls the position.
McCalister with a flurry of punches that miss.
McCalister content to stall in guard here.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Chris McCalister wasn't active enough on the ground.
McCalister scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Bob is breathing heavily.

McCalister gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

McCalister tightens his grip and picks Bob up, before dumping him to the ground. Bob manages to land in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McCalister not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
McCalister has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McCalister slips nicely into half guard.
McCalister looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Bob tries to roll over but McCalister keeps him under control.
McCalister slows the pace down in half guard.
Bob wants to control but McCalister is keeping busy.
Bob knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McCalister on the ground.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
McCalister works his way into full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McCalister with a couple of short strikes.
McCalister tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

McCalister gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

McCalister looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McCalister's corner is telling him to maintain position.
McCalister is pushing down on Bob's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bob is fighting to maintain full guard but McCalister has managed to sneak the leg through.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

McCalister wants to work for an arm triangle but Bob is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
McCalister has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
McCalister controlling the pace for now.
McCalister is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Bob can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

McCalister is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Bob to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Bob shrugs it off.
McCalister lands a big elbow.
Bob definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
McCalister sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McCalister stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

McCalister sends Bob crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! McCalister is motioning to the referee to let Bob up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
McCalister jabs Bob to the body, keeping him at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris McCalister dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



McCalister shoots in and bounces Bob off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Bob utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
McCalister controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
McCalister pushes down on Bob's leg and manages to get into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McCalister takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nice strikes from McCalister there.
McCalister is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

McCalister has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Bob defend it? McCalister steps over the head and cranks it - Bob is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for McCalister!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Chris McCalister!
