The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yuuki Gou and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jet shoots in but Perez avoids the takedown attempt easily.

No joy there for Jet, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jet shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Perez but Perez pushes him off and we're back to square one.

We've been hearing good reports from Perez's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Perez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jet manages to get himself to full guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Jet working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Jet might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Perez haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Jet sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Perez's guard.

David Perez was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
