Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenji Woko ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Phil Chip! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Woko drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Woko scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Chip to see if he's OK. Woko decides to stand up, so the ref orders Chip to his feet. Woko shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Woko showed some decent athleticism there. Woko throwing shots but Chip is blocking nicely. Woko not landing any meaningful shots this time. Woko perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Woko landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Woko missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Chip is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Woko scores with a couple of nice shots.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woko controlling the pace. Woko 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Woko trying to mount his opponent but Chip defends it. Woko stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Chip to get to his feet. Woko throws a right and a left that both miss. Chip avoids a punch combination nicely.
Phil Chip seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Woko shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Woko lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Woko with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Chip preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Woko postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Chip tries to land a sweep but no joy. Woko working some strikes from top position. Chip working a defensive guard here.

Chip is rocked! Woko engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Chip is still in real trouble! Can Woko finish him? Chip seems to have recovered his senses. Woko content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Woko controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Woko scoring with some ground and pound. Woko stands up from guard. Let's bang!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Woko jabs at Chip's body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Chip walks into a straight right hand from Woko . Sloppy strikes from Woko . Those never looked like landing. Chip fails with the takedown and Woko counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Woko throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Chip crashing down! Chip tries to stagger back to his feet but Woko just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Chip asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.
