Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pablo Escobar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Heath Marcum! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Ivan Kurochkin and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Escobar tries a low kick but Marcum avoids it. Escobar throws a front kick aimed at Marcum's knee but Marcum avoids it well. Marcum's coach down at ACME! Thai Boxing Academy 13 ELITE COACHES & SAUNA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Marcum's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Escobar ducks under a wild hook from Marcum. Marcum throws a low kick but Escobar avoids it. Marcum doesn't succeed with the takedown and Escobar counters with a body kick that stops Marcum in his tracks momentarily. Marcum shoots in and bounces Escobar off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Escobar looking to hit a scissor sweep but Marcum is one step ahead there. Marcum throws an elbow that misses. Escobar uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Marcum's guard. Nice move by Escobar! Marcum is looking to sweep but instead, Escobar has passed into half guard.
Marcum wants to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marcum actively working from the bottom here. Escobar controlling the pace. Escobar prevents Marcum from improving his position. Marcum is in trouble now - Escobar has advanced to mount! Escobar controlling his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Marcum tries to get back to half guard but can't. Escobar tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Marcum is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Escobar controlling his opponent. Escobar can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Marcum is looking to escape. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marcum really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Escobar controlling from mount. Escobar blocks Marcum's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Pablo Escobar will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Marcum closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Marcum lands in his opponent's guard. Escobar is trying to keep Marcum in close.
Marcum makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Marcum is looking to work some ground and pound but Escobar has wrist control. Marcum content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Escobar is adopting a defensive guard. Marcum lands a couple of elbows. Marcum throws a big elbow that misses. Escobar avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Marcum throwing strikes from guard but Escobar blocks nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marcum postures up in Escobar's guard and throws a big left but Escobar blocks it. Heath Marcum has got the better of the ground game so far. Marcum pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Escobar is keeping the position for now. Marcum working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Escobar has control of Marcum's left arm, preventing Marcum from doing any damage. Escobar is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Marcum must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Marcum throwing strikes from guard but Escobar blocks nicely. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marcum loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Escobar has Marcum pulled in close to control his posture.

We're going to have a standup here because Pablo Escobar wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Marcum shoots in and drives through. Escobar sprawls well. Marcum misses with a hook. Escobar ducked under it nicely. Marcum looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Escobar is fending him off so far but Marcum persists. Nope, Escobar circles away and we're back to standing. Marcum takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Marcum dives in and grabs Escobar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Escobar pushes down on Marcum's head and hops out. Pablo Escobar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Heath Marcum. Marcum shoots in for a takedown but Escobar shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Marcum dives in for a single leg takedown but Escobar sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Marcum is breathing heavily. Escobar lands with a light punch inside. Marcum trying to control the position but instead, Escobar has worked for underhooks and has pushed Marcum into the cage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Escobar is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Marcum breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Escobar lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Marcum shoots in looking for a takedown. Escobar tries to sprawl out of it but Marcum keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Escobar manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Escobar lands with a kick to the ribs.

It looks like Heath Marcum has been cut. Escobar catches Marcum with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Escobar closes the distance and clinches. Escobar throws a head punch that misses. Escobar scores with a nice hook to the head. This has been an exciting period of action! A short right from Escobar. Escobar misses with some punches.
Marcum wants to take the fight to the mat but Escobar manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Escobar lands a body punch. Marcum blocking some punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marcum with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Escobar lands with a light punch inside.
Marcum is rocked! Escobar dips a shoulder and cracks Marcum with a mighty uppercut! Marcum falls back against the cage and Escobar unloads with a barrage of strikes! Marcum is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Escobar screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

A very excited looking Pablo Escobar made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
