Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between John Dodson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Fierro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Luis Fierro will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Dodson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luis Fierro! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dodson clinches. Dodson breaks the clinch.
Dodson clinches up against the cage. Dodson gets control of Fierro's arms and successfully pulls guard. Dodson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Dodson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dodson throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dodson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Dodson can't break the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action! Fierro blocks an elbow strike from Dodson.
Dodson tries to work over Fierro's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dodson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Fierro has him pressed against the cage. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Dodson gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Fierro regains guard.
Dodson stays in close to Fierro's body and controls the position. Dodson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Fierro working a defensive guard but Dodson manages to pass into side control anyway.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dodson moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Dodson cracks Fierro with a big elbow. Fierro avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Dodson. Dodson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Fierro is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dodson moves into full mount! Dodson looking to control and managing it successfully. Dodson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Fierro's face.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dodson controlling from mount. Dodson looking to finish Fierro with some ground and pound. This is bad for Fierro! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Dodson get's back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Dodson dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Fierro stuffs the takedown attempt from Dodson. Dodson gets slowly back to his feet. Donk. Fierro catches Dodson right on the button with a cross. Nice jab there from Dodson. Fierro stuffs the takedown. John Dodson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Excellent takedown into side control there by Dodson. Dodson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Fierro to his feet. Dodson misses with a head kick.
Dodson dives in and scores a takedown into Fierro's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fierro looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dodson is one step ahead there. Dodson pushing down on Fierro's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Dodson stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Fierro uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Dodson. Dodson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dodson manages to break the clinch.
Dodson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Fierro to the ground. Dodson is now in Fierro's guard. Dodson wants to pass the guard but Fierro is keeping the position. Dodson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Fierro scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Fierro is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dodson doesn't manage to clinch there - Fierro circles away.
Fierro keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Dodson is rocked!
That's three minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dodson is defended easily by Fierro. Oh Dodson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Dodson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fierro keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Dodson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Fierro sprawls well. Fierro wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dodson gets slowly back to his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Dodson shoots for a double leg takedown but Fierro sprawls well. He's pushed Dodson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Fierro! Dodson is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!
