Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jordan Henderson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Conway! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Ben Hemmingworth and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circling - Henderson throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Conway lands a lovely overhand right. Henderson throws a series of punches but Conway moves out of range. Conway lands a really nice looking cross but Henderson seems unphased.
Henderson seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Conway connects with a jab. Henderson takes a body punch but keeps moving. Conway ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Conway fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Conway takes one on the button. Henderson misses with a looping left. Henderson throws a body punch but Conway moves out of range. Conway uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Henderson. Mark Conway seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Conway missing with a left hand there. Henderson was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Henderson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Conway sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Left hook, right uppercut from Conway. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A big right from Henderson misses. Henderson lands with a hook. Conway tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Conway throws a looping overhand right but Henderson ducks down to avoid it. Conway wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Conway uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Henderson. Conway is looking to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Henderson takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Conway lands a jab to the nose. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Henderson throws out a loose jab but Conway uses good head movement to avoid it. Conway avoids the body shot from Henderson.
Conway clinches up with Henderson and pushes him back against the cage. Conway's coach down at Light of the Moonbeam was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Conway's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Conway stalling against the cage.

Henderson throws a poor cross that misses
and Conway counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Henderson thinking. Good exchange - Conway coming out on top. Henderson takes one to the side of the head.
Henderson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Conway defends it nicely. Conway connects with a body shot that sends Henderson's belly button to the back. Henderson takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Conway lands with a nice body punch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Conway misses with a low kick. Henderson does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Henderson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Conway.
Conway with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Henderson to score with a decent uppercut. Conway defending well as Henderson loads up on a big left hand. Conway swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Henderson misses with a head kick.
Henderson throws the left hand but Conway avoids the punch easily. Conway moves out of range as Henderson strikes. Conway scores with a shot to the body.
Conway lands a jab to the nose. Conway works over Henderson's head and body with a nice combination. An inside leg kick from Henderson misses. Henderson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Conway sees it coming and avoids it easily. Henderson throws a combination that misses and Conway counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Good leg kick by Conway there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Henderson is defended easily by Conway. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jordan Henderson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Conway jabs Henderson to the body, keeping him at a distance. Conway staying out of range there. Henderson throws a lazy right hand but Conway sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Henderson defending well as Conway loads up on a big left hand. Henderson misses with a hook
and Conway makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Conway stuns Henderson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Conway throws out a powerful jab. Henderson looks to score with a jab to the body but Conway is just out of range. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Henderson. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Henderson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Conway finds it's way round the side to connect with Henderson's head. Conway swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Henderson. Henderson dives in for a single leg takedown but Conway sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Conway lands a shoulder strike. Conway lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Henderson is rocked! Henderson swings wildly with an uppercut but Conway uses good head movement to avoid it. Oh Henderson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Conway stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Henderson seems to have got his legs back now. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Henderson wants to stall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Conway lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Henderson. Henderson takes a shot to the head. Conway lands a right hand that snaps the head of Henderson backwards. Conway lands a left hand that snaps the head of Henderson backwards. Conway pushes Henderson against the cage. Conway is working some dirty boxing. Conway pushes off with a quick right hook! Henderson goes down! Henderson tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Conway moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Conway! Mark Conway is the new lightweight champion!
