Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jack Poldi! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brian Jones! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Viktor Lagutenko and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Jones smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Jones misses with the combination.
Poldi gets a clinch. The referee is keeping an eye on Poldi - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Poldi tries to land a knee to the head but Jones blocks with his arms.
Jones just leaning against Poldi, taking a breather. Poldi throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Poldi is struggling to control the position. Poldi stalling in the clinch but Jones improves position. Poldi throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Jones jumps guard but Poldi turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Poldi is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Jones blocks a body shot from Poldi.

Poldi lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Poldi is pressed up against the cage. Jones has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Poldi down to the mat. Poldi avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Poldi throws a push kick but Jones slaps the foot to one side. Jones fails to land the takedown. Jack Poldi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Jones. Jones looks winded! Nice sprawl there from Poldi as Jones shoots in. Poldi thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Jones if he has to take too many more of those.
Poldi moves into range and clinches up with Jones. Jones is looking for a takedown. Jones looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. A right handed body shot lands from Poldi.

Jones has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Poldi seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Jones can turn it around. Poldi is trying to drag Jones to the mat but Jones just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. The referee calls for Poldi to work.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Jack Poldi. Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Poldi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. The fight stays on the outside here - Poldi looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones misses with a straight left. Poldi lands with a cross. Brian Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Poldi blocks a head kick by Jones.

Poldi fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Poldi persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Poldi has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Poldi fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Poldi controlling from the full mount.

Poldi raining down hammerfists from mount. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Poldi controlling his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Poldi cracks Jones with a good jab. Jones throws a right hand that Poldi ducks under and follows up with a left that Poldi also avoids with ease. Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Poldi circles away quickly and effectively. Poldi lands a nice shot to the body.

and Poldi counters with a good, hard body kick but Jones shrugs it off. Poldi is looking to clinch. Poldi fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Jones on the side of the head. Jones walks forward, straight into a front kick from Poldi. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Poldi bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Poldi lands with a nice body punch. Jones misses with a double jab.
Poldi punishes Jones's body with a nice straight punch. A punch combination from Jones misses. Poldi moves into range and clinches up with Jones.

Jones is breathing heavily. The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Poldi for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure. A short right from Poldi. Jones being controlled against the cage. Jones gets a trip takedown into half guard. Poldi has his hands clasped together around Jones's back. He's all about the action. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Poldi trying to hold on to Jones's head to control him but Jones postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones wants to control but Poldi is keeping him busy. Poldi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jones can do to turn this around? Poldi gets full guard. Jones is fighting to break Poldi's control of his arms but Poldi is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Poldi seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Poldi has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We're going to have a standup here because Jack Poldi wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Jones misses with a hook. Jones with a hook. Jones keeps the fight on the outside. Poldi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jones. Poldi blocks a jab. Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Poldi clinches up with Jones and pushes him back against the cage. Poldi scores with a shot to the side of Jones's head. Poldi keeps control of Jones as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. A left hand lands to the body for Poldi.
Poldi lands a shoulder strike. Poldi tries to throw a body punch but Jones avoids it by throwing Poldi back against the cage. A nice glancing elbow lands by Poldi.

It looks like Brian Jones has been cut. Poldi lands with a short shot to the head. Poldi creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Jones's defenses. Jack Poldi has scored more points in the clinch so far. Poldi is trying to maintain a safe position but Jones gets an underhook and turns Poldi into the cage. Poldi slowing the pace effectively.
