Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nikolay Capriotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rubin Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Capriotti might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Immigrant Song - Karen O (feat. Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross). Carter is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Hurricane. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Rubin Carter was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick lands from Capriotti.
Capriotti has closed the distance and engaged Carter in a clinch.
I was talking to Capriotti's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Capriotti is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Carter to keep the fight standing.
Carter is fighting off a takedown attempt but Capriotti is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Carter to the mat. Carter regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Capriotti lands a couple of digs.
Capriotti stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Carter seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Capriotti drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Carter manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Capriotti has Carter in his guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Rubin Carter hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Capriotti drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Capriotti jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
This has been an exciting period of action!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Capriotti is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Capriotti motions for Carter to come forward. Capriotti throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
The fighters circling - Carter throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Capriotti takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Capriotti shoots in for a takedown but Carter shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Capriotti shoots in looking for a takedown. Carter tries to sprawl out of it but Capriotti keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice uppercut lands for Carter. That snapped Capriotti's head back.

Carter throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Capriotti on the side of the head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Carter is pressed up against the cage. Capriotti has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Carter down to the mat. Carter avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Carter uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Capriotti has time to react.

Carter does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Carter throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Capriotti sees it coming and avoids it easily.
And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Rubin Carter.
I think Carter has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Rubin Carter made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
The defeated Nikolay Capriotti had this to say: 'I can't understand... I don't know why I'm not able to perform the way I should. I don't know what to do next. I have to improve.'.
