PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Reznov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Marcus Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Victor Reznov!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Glass and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ellis feints and then cracks Reznov's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Reznov down.
Ellis stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Ellis throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Reznov's head.
Ellis lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Ellis ducks right into an uppercut from Reznov.


It looks like Marcus Ellis has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ellis throws a head kick that Reznov semi-blocks.
Reznov shoots in looking for a takedown. Ellis tries to sprawl out of it but Reznov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ellis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Reznov instigates a clinch.

Ellis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Ellis bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Reznov's head.
Reznov gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Ellis.
Ellis comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Reznov connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Reznov tries to clinch there but Ellis circles away.
Victor Reznov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ellis scores with a head kick. Reznov tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Reznov throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ellis.

Ellis throws a series of strikes that have Reznov backpedaling.
Reznov takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Reznov takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Reznov is looking to clinch but Ellis is avoiding it.
Reznov fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A cross from Ellis lands.
Crunch! Ellis slams his shin into Reznov's torso.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ellis scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
A head kick by Reznov misses
and Ellis counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Ellis throws a good cross that connects.
Ellis lands a nice looking kick to the body. Reznov takes a step back to recover.
Reznov looks winded!
Ellis stuffs the takedown.
Marcus Ellis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Victor Reznov.

Ellis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Reznov darts in looking for a takedown but Ellis gets double underhooks and turns Reznov into the cage.
Reznov is trying desperately to land a takedown but Ellis is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Reznov.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Reznov as Ellis tries to tie him up.

Reznov gets control of Ellis's arms and successfully pulls guard. Reznov will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Ellis engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

We're going to have a standup here because Marcus Ellis wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Ellis dips to his left and cracks Reznov with an uppercut!
Reznov misses with a series of wild punches.
Reznov takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
A slapping body kick lands there for Ellis.
Marcus Ellis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ellis connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Reznov looks to score with a jab to the body but Ellis is just out of range.
Ellis paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Reznov chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ellis can pounce on him.
Ellis avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ellis scores with a decent looking hook.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Reznov takes a jab right on the kisser.
Reznov on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Reznov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ellis is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Ellis lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Reznov backs up against the cage.
A left and a right from Ellis both land. Nice combination.
Ellis bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Ellis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Reznov.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Ellis dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Reznov. That did some damage!
Reznov gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Ellis misses with a few strikes there.
Ellis connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Reznov momentarily.
Nice straight punches there by Ellis. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Ellis.
Ellis scores with a leg kick.
Ellis bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Reznov ducks right into an uppercut from Ellis.
Ellis lands with an uppercut that bounces Reznov off the cage and back into range.
Reznov takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Ellis throws a leg kick which misses Reznov's front leg but catches the back leg as Reznov tries to avoid it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ellis's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Ellis duly obliges.
Reznov is looking to chop away at Ellis's legs.
Reznov connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Ellis's hands.
Reznov throws a lazy head kick
and Ellis counters with an inside leg kick.
Ellis throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Ellis moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Marcus Ellis is winning the standup battle so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Reznov throws a right hand that Ellis ducks under and follows up with a left that Ellis also avoids with ease.
Ellis moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Ellis moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Ellis avoids the head kick by Reznov.
Ellis throws a series of punches but Reznov moves out of range.
Reznov just misses with a punch to the body.
Reznov falls off balance throwing a combination
and Ellis counters with a slapping leg kick.
Ellis throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Ellis lands with an overhand left.
Reznov closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Reznov takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Ellis throws a half hearted mid kick.
Reznov has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Ellis.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Reznov.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ellis is looking to slow Reznov down with leg kicks.
Reznov tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ellis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Reznov has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ellis finds it's way round the side to connect with Reznov's head.
Reznov takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Ellis closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Ellis scores with a jab to the head.
Victor Reznov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Reznov walks into a left hand.
A punch lands to the side of Ellis 's head but he takes it in his stride.
A looping hook to the body misses from Ellis. Reznov does a little dance to reset his feet.
Reznov fails in his attempt to clinch.
Reznov throws a nice looking combination but Ellis bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Reznov lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Reznov.


Ellis is rocked!
Ellis misses with a lunging right hand
and Reznov counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Ellis off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Reznov follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Ellis was out before he hit the floor.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Victor Reznov!
