Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, George Mendez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nicolas De Ertu!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Ertu forces Mendez back against the cage and clinches.
Mendez definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
De Ertu goes for a takedown attempt but Mendez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A punch combination from De Ertu misses.
De Ertu displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mendez.
Mendez rushes De Ertu and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Mendez has De Ertu pressed against the cage, preventing De Ertu from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

De Ertu tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mendez smiles and moves away.
De Ertu moves into the clinch successfully.
Mendez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A lazy left from Mendez finds it's target.
It looks like Nicolas De Ertu has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round.
De Ertu shoots in and drives through. Mendez sprawls well.
George Mendez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nicolas De Ertu.
Mendez dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Mendez cracks De Ertu with an uppercut from hell and De Ertu crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Mendez's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
De Ertu is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
De Ertu is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
De Ertu is still in real trouble! Can Mendez finish him?
Mendez gets to his feet. De Ertu looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
De Ertu looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
De Ertu seems to have recovered his senses.
Mendez shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. De Ertu takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Mendez sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! De Ertu bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). George Mendez!
After winning the bout, George Mendez thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
